FAQ

Q1: How to wire a 3-phase VFD?

  • Preparation: Before starting the connection, prepare the necessary tools and materials, such as screwdrivers, insulating tape, terminal blocks, etc. At the same time, make sure that the 3-phase VFD inverter and motor are in a power-off state to ensure safety.
  • Grounding wire wiring: First, make sure that the grounding wire is connected correctly. Connect the metal casing of the 3-phase variable frequency drive and motor to the grounding terminal through the grounding wire to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.
  • Main power wiring: Next, connect the main power supply. Generally, the three-phase inverter has three-phase input terminals L1, L2, and L3. The corresponding wires of the main power supply need to be connected to these three terminals respectively. Be careful to ensure that the terminal blocks are firmly fastened and not loose.
  • Motor wiring: Finally, connect the motor wiring. The motor also has corresponding three-phase power input terminals. The U, V, and W terminals of the three-phase frequency inverter need to be connected to the corresponding terminals of the motor, respectively, to ensure that the connection is correct.
  • Cable fixing: After completing the wiring, fix the cable with insulating tape or wire tie to prevent loosening or short circuits to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.

Q2: Which input voltage option should I choose for a US 480V three-phase supply?

Select the 480V option at checkout. The GK3000-4T0022G (480V variant) accepts 480V ±15% three-phase input and is the correct choice for standard North American industrial 480V service. The 380V variant is for international installations; the 208V/220V/240V options are for lower-voltage three-phase supplies.

Q3: What is the difference between V/F control and sensorless vector control on this drive?

V/F control maintains a fixed ratio between output voltage and frequency — simple and stable for most fan and pump applications. Sensorless vector control (SVC) uses motor model algorithms to regulate flux and torque independently, providing better low-speed torque (150% at 1 Hz) and tighter speed accuracy (±0.5%) for constant-torque loads like lathes, conveyors, and compressors. SVC requires entering the motor's nameplate data during setup.

Q4: Can this VFD be integrated with a PLC via Modbus?

Yes. The RS-485 port supports Modbus RTU protocol, allowing a PLC or SCADA system to read and write drive parameters, control start/stop/speed, and monitor fault status remotely.

Smooth-running 2.2kW frequency inverter
The 2.2kW frequency inverter works smoothly and handles variable speeds well. The RS485 communication and PID control make it great for automation. If you're unfamiliar with VF drives, the initial setup might take some time to figure out. But the after-sales staff will be eager to help.

Solid performance but could use better instructions
The 2.2 kW frequency inverter works great for my 3-phase system and handles variable frequencies smoothly. However, the installation manual could be clearer—took me extra time to figure things out.

Three phase vfd good performance
I have to say that the three phase vfd performs very well. I bought the frequency inverter for controlling a lathe. With the right parameters set it performs very well. The number of parameters available for tuning is impressive. I’m happy all around with this unit.

The 3 phase VFD works very well on my grinder
I bought the VFD to run a 3 phase 12 inch grinder and I had no idea what program parameters to set and what they meant, the seller was very responsive, patient and supportive, thank you very much.

The frequency inverter works out nice!
I purchased this VFD for a 2 kW lathe. It works right out of the box and is very easy to program. This is the second VFD I have purchased from inverter.com. I have found this VFD to be much easier to use, less expensive, and more reliable.

Do you provide reactors for 1-phase inverters?
We are looking to use your 1-phase frequency inverter for a wall pump application. The pump motor will be about 180 meters from the frequency inverter and your frequency inverter manual says to use line reactors if the motor is more than 100 meters away please advice if you proivde reactors for 1-phase frenquency inverter.

Yes, we proivde, and usually when the distance between the frequency inverter and the motor is more than 100m, a reactor is required to be installed at the output.
Good customer service
Using this 2.2kW frequency inverter it works like it should. After a few months it stopped working, turns out I had found two much dust going into it. They sent me a new one no questions. Now I’m back up and running.
