How do micro inverters handle shading on solar panels?

Micro inverters are highly effective at managing the impact of shading on solar panels. In traditional solar systems that use a central or string inverter, multiple panels are connected in series. If one panel is shaded, its reduced output affects the performance of the entire string, as the output is dictated by the weakest-performing panel. This limits the system's overall energy generation.

In contrast, this type of solar power inverter installed on each solar panel individually. They convert the direct current (DC) generated by each panel into alternating current (AC) at the panel level, independently from the rest of the system. This architecture allows each panel to operate at its optimal performance, even if others are shaded or partially obstructed. When shading occurs on one or more panels in a solar cell micro inverter system, only the affected panels experience a drop in output, while the others continue to produce energy at full capacity. This means that shading on one panel does not reduce the energy output of the entire system, leading to higher overall efficiency.
