FAQ

How does a 3-phase inverter circuit work?

  1. DC Input: The DC power source provides a constant voltage to the 3 phase inverter circuit.
  2. Switching Devices: The variable frequency inverter bridge has six switches (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6). These switches are controlled in pairs to create alternating current in three phases. S1 and S4 for Phase A; S3 and S6 for Phase B; S5 and S2 for Phase C.
  3. PWM Control: The switches are controlled using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM). PWM signals determine how long each switch is on or off, thereby shaping the output waveform. Typically, the control circuit uses a microcontroller or DSP (Digital Signal Processor) to generate the PWM signals.
  4. Generation of AC Output: The switches are turned on and off in a specific sequence to create alternating voltage at each phase. When S1 and S4 are switched on and off, they create an alternating current in Phase A. Similarly, S3 and S6 switch to control Phase B, and S5 and S2 control Phase C.
  5. Output Waveform: The sequence of switching creates a set of three AC waveforms that are 120 degrees out of phase with each other. Ideally, these waveforms are sinusoidal. However, the initial output is often a series of square waves or stepped waves that approximate a sine wave.
  6. Filtering: The output from the 3 phase frequency inverter bridge is typically filtered using inductors and capacitors to smooth out the waveform, reducing harmonic distortion and creating a cleaner AC signal.
