Definition and Function

PWM solar controller is an interface device between solar panels and batteries. Its main function is to control the charging process of solar panels to batteries to protect batteries from overcharging or over-discharging. By adopting pulse width modulation technology, a 40 amp PWM solar charge controller can achieve precise control of the charging current.

Working Principle

The working principle of the 12v PWM solar charge controller is based on pulse width modulation technology. It generates a fixed frequency square wave signal through an internal PWM modulator. The duty cycle of this square wave signal (that is, the proportion of high-level time to the total cycle) can be adjusted through the circuit inside the controller.
When the output voltage of the solar panel is higher than the charging voltage of the battery, the PWM solar charger will adjust the duty cycle of the square wave signal to a smaller value, or even 0, to reduce or stop the charging current and prevent the battery from overcharging.
When the output voltage of the solar panel is lower than the charging voltage of the battery, the PWM controller 24v will adjust the duty cycle of the square wave signal to a larger value to increase the charging current and speed up the charging process.

The dual USB ports of this 40A PWM solar charge controller are super handy for charging small devices, and the LED display is much clearer than other controllers I’ve used. I love the automatic voltage detection.

Reliable solar charge controller

Perfect and very affordable when connected to a single 100W solar panel. Remember to connect the battery first. Positive wire, then negative wire, it works fine.
