0.2 kW Mini VFD, Single to 3 Phase, Non-Enclosure

GK3300-2S0002
This 0.2 kW (1/4 hp) mini VFD converts a 220-240V single-phase supply into variable-frequency three-phase output (0–1000 Hz, 1.6 A rated) for small three-phase induction motors. It ships as an open-frame board with no outer shell (151 × 104 × 73)mm and weighs 665g — so equipment builders can mount it directly inside their own cabinet. V/F and sensorless vector control, a built-in PID controller, and RS-485 Modbus communication are included.

0.4 kW Mini VFD, Single to 3 Phase, Non-Enclosure

GK3300-2S0004
Rated at 3A, this 0.4 kW (1/2 hp) mini VFD runs small three-phase motors from a standard 220–240V single-phase supply, with 1:100 speed regulation and 150% starting torque at 1Hz. It is supplied as an open-frame board (151 × 104 × 73mm, 665g) for mounting in your own control cabinet, where several drives can sit side by side. Built-in PID, automatic energy-saving mode, and RS-485 communication.

0.75 kW Mini VFD, Single to 3 Phase, Non-Enclosure

GK3300-2S0007
For single-phase sites that need to run a 1 hp three-phase motor, this 0.75 kW mini VFD delivers 4.7 A of rated output current from a 220–240V supply, with output up to 1000 Hz and 150% overload for 1 minute. The open-frame board measures (150 × 98 × 114)mm and weighs 887g, and it is designed to be mounted inside your own cabinet. V/F and sensorless vector control, a built-in PID controller, and RS-485 communication are included.

1.5 kW Mini VFD, Single to 3 Phase, Non-Enclosure

GK3300-2S0015
With 7.5 A rated output and a built-in braking unit, this 1.5 kW (2 hp) mini VFD is the largest rating in our non-enclosure series, driving three-phase motors from a 220–240V single-phase supply. It offers 1:100 speed regulation, 150% overload for 1 minute, and output up to 1000 Hz on a (150 × 98 × 114)mm, 887g board that mounts inside your own cabinet.

A non-enclosure VFD, also called an open-frame or board-level VFD, is a variable frequency drive supplied as bare circuit boards on an aluminum heatsink, without a plastic or metal housing. Like any VFD, it controls the speed of an AC induction motor by adjusting the frequency and voltage of its output. Because it has no shell of its own, it is designed to be built into a machine or control cabinet that provides the protection.

Inverter.com offers GK3300-series non-enclosure VFDs from 0.2 kW to 1.5 kW (1/4 to 2 hp). Every model accepts a 220–240V single-phase supply and delivers three-phase output, so small three-phase motors can run where no three-phase service is available. These drives suit equipment builders, panel shops, and system integrators who want speed control inside the machine rather than mounted beside it. For installations that need a finished housing, see our enclosed single- to three-phase frequency inverters.

Key Features of a Non-Enclosure VFD:

  • Open-frame, space-saving design: The 0.2 and 0.4 kW boards measure (151 × 104 × 73)mm and weigh 665g, while the 0.75 and 1.5 kW boards measure (150 × 98 × 114)mm and weigh 887g. Several drives can share one cabinet.
  • Single-phase input, three-phase output: Accepts 220–240V single-phase and outputs three-phase AC from 0 to the input voltage, at 0–1000 Hz.
  • Two control modes: V/F control suits fans, pumps, and conveyors. Sensorless vector control delivers 150% starting torque at 1 Hz, 1:100 speed regulation, and speed accuracy within ±0.5%.
  • Built-in functions: PID controller, automatic energy-saving run, automatic voltage regulation (AVR), and automatic current limiting are standard, with 150% overload for 1 minute and 180% for 3 seconds.
  • RS-485 communication: Lets a PLC or host controller set parameters and start or stop the drive, and supports Modbus control of multiple drives together.

What are the Benefits of a Non-Enclosure VFD?

  1. Smaller, lower-cost cabinets: With no separate housing, the drive takes up only the volume of its board, which reduces cabinet size and bill of materials for OEM equipment.
  2. Three-phase motors on single-phase supply: The single-phase input removes the need for a phase converter or three-phase service at the installation site.
  3. Soft start and stop: Gradual acceleration and deceleration reduce the motor's startup inrush current and ease mechanical stress on belts, couplings, and gearboxes.
  4. Energy savings on fans and pumps: Fan and pump loads follow the Affinity Laws, so a 20% reduction in motor speed cuts power consumption by nearly half.
  5. Ratings matched to small motors: The 0.2, 0.4, 0.75, and 1.5 kW models cover the small three-phase motors found in packaged machinery, ventilation units, and pumps.

Installation Notes for Non-Enclosure VFDs:

  • Use a closed cabinet: Live parts are exposed, so mount the board inside a cabinet that protects it from dust, moisture, and accidental contact.
  • Respect the environmental limits: Operating temperature is –10℃ to +40℃, with output derated by 5% for each 1℃ above 40℃. Altitude is limited to 1000 m, and humidity must stay between 5% and 95% without condensation.
  • Leave space around the heatsink: Keep clear airflow around the aluminum heatsink and avoid mounting the drive above other heat sources.
  • Match the motor current: Choose a motor whose rated current is within the drive's rated output current, not just its horsepower.
