  1. Power Requirement Calculation: The total power of the solar panels should generally be 1.3 to 1.5 times the power of the water pump. This accounts for potential losses and ensures sufficient power availability. For example, if your water pump requires 1.4 kW, you should aim for a solar panel array with a total power of around 1.5 * 1.4 kW = 2.1 kW.
  2. Inverter Voltage Compatibility: The working voltage of the solar water pump inverter is a crucial factor in determining the configuration of your solar panels. For a system with an inverter voltage range of 200V to 360V, you need to ensure the combined voltage of the solar panels falls within this range.
  3. Panel Selection and Configuration: Select solar panels that match the system requirements. For instance, using 280W solar panels, you would calculate the needed number: Desired total power: 2.1 kW, Power per panel: 280W, Number of panels required: 2.1 kW / 0.28 kW = 7.5, rounded up to 8 panels for adequate power. Connect the 8 panels in series to achieve a combined voltage suitable for the solar pump inverter. It would be nice if the protection level were a little higher.
I’ve been using the 2.2 kW solar pump inverter for a few weeks now on my small farm setup. It handles AC and DC input well, and the MPPT tech optimizes solar power, even on cloudy days. My only gripe is the IP20 rating; a little more protection would be better for dust-prone areas.
